Update for 21 November 2024
Hello again! It’s been another busy month, I just returned from a work trip to London, which is always an adventure. The photo is from Pancras Square near King’s Cross Station.
I’ve also been making changes behind the scenes here on the website. One thing is that this site has a new web host. I moved from Wix to Squarespace. One benefit is that I can afford it 😂. One drawback is we don’t have a forum anymore 🙁. It’s fine because the forum was more of a ghost town anyway 👻. I was trying to recreate the Sanctuary forums I used to have with BadBlood, but that got way more traffic back in the webcomic days (weekly updates helped!). Not so suitable for a novelist where publications come way less frequently.
So yes, the other thing is that I’m back to writing blogs, though I prefer the term updates because I can’t ever see myself being a blogger. I have nothing against bloggers, you go with your bad selves, but I can’t keep it up. Regardless, feel free to leave your comments or ask your questions below.
Now that I have finished the website redo, I can return to writing work. And so, on to updates.
Due for Publication
Expected first quarter of 2025: Ancient History. An amazing artist is working on the cover as we speak. Here’s hoping for a cover reveal soon!
Output - What I'm Writing
Nothing at the moment.
Status of Works
The Destroyer - the first draft is complete, I will begin revisions soon. It is the second in the set for the Ancient History novella series.
Ammat - a new concoction inspired by The Destroyer, awaiting my attention to begin drafting (likely after the above is revised). It will complete the Ancient History series.
Gem Finder - this short story is still awaiting my revisions, a full rewrite, or a one-way trip to the bin - anything is possible!
Star Augur - still simmering away on the back burner.
Input - What I’m reading, watching, listening to, etc.
I did, amazingly, just finish a book I got from the library. It was Justin Cronin’s The Ferryman, which was an interesting take on post-apocalypse notions. I was not disappointed.
I have a former workmate, who used to be my travel buddy, and she recommends books to me once in a while, her latest being Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I look forward to it.
Coming up…
I will be divesting from X (formerly Twitter) very soon, and already have an active Bluesky account here: https://bsky.app/profile/lirielmcmahon.bsky.social - come, hang out! Keep me company while I revise.
Cheers,
~Liriel
