We’ve landed in Ireland (suprise!)

I know I have not blogged since February, but BIG NEWS: I've moved to Ireland!

My husband and I are presently settled with friends in a stone cottage situated near a small village in Co. Wicklow, Ireland.

This photo is from when we first arrived a little over a week ago, and now the garden and hills are just kissed with the colors of fall.

One would think this natural beauty is conducive to reams of writing, but honestly, I am overwhelmed with job hunting and anxiety about housing.

The housing crisis in Ireland is very much real. I had thought that maybe all the "Ireland is full" barbs were rude jokes. But the reality is that the already low supply of Irish housing has been overwhelmed by the consequences of Brexit and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

We are incredibly fortunate and grateful to have friends willing and able to put us up for the time being, but even their situation is not stable with a mortgage still pending approval in a turbulent economy. All four of us may end up moving by late November, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

So yes, these are not the best circumstances under which to write, but I am resuming my daily writing practice regardless.

Current writing project statuses:

  • SF/F projects - one short story soon to be published here, otherwise paused.

  • BadBlood novel - paused.

  • Mom Memoir - NEW, musing stage.

  • Blogging - resumed, yay!

  • Editing services through Fiverr - check it out! https://www.fiverr.com/lirielmcmahon

That is all for now.

Peace and be well,

~Liriel
